The Music Box is a tiny Music School that operates as a social enterprise by offering affordable music & pairing it with community projects!
It all started with our early years music & movement class, Boogie Bugs – but as our kids grew – so did we!! Everything we do is very much inspired by classes in the Old Town School of Folk Music in Chicago, and as the class list expanded to include singing groups and guitar lessons, school programmes, playwriting & songwriting, the Old Town School continued to be an inspiration with their relaxed teaching methods and performance driven classes.
As a social enterprise, community work is a regular part of The Music Box, creating and supporting anti bullying projects locally and beyond, providing affordable music opportunities, running Live and Original Sessions as a support for original works by adults, and working with The Exchange Inishowen and various projects run there.
We still keep our babes in arms at the core of what we do – it all starts with them and the wonderful engagement between young babies, toddlers & children and their grown up in our 0-3yrs classes! Look out for those as they come up in The Exchange Buncrana, and the Slibah Sneacht Centre in Drumfries. As the kids get older and progress to our Boogie Bugs drop off class and singing and guitar, we keep the opportunities coming for them, with new skills, performance and recording!

Hi there, there’s a singing group in Buncrana on Wedesndays 5-6pm in TheExchange, and another in the Sliabh Sneacht Centre in Drumfries on Tuesdays 5-6pm. Come along to whichever location suits! Thanks, Bernie
Hi Bernie, I’m hoping to organise a few music workshops for my students at Youthreach. We are planning to run the workshops on Wednesdays in January & February. Is this something that you would facilitate for us in our centre? Our centre is located at the old Garda station in Lisfannon.
